Since 1998 · Community at heart

Helping people grow — together in Masaka.

Elyon Joy School was founded on the conviction that every child deserves more than an education — they deserve a community that lifts them up. We open our doors, our resources, and our hearts to families across the region, because true learning never happens in isolation.

Rooted in Masaka

From a small nursery to a community anchor

What began in 1998 with 23 children in a converted house has grown into a school of over 1,200 learners — but our mission was never just about enrollment numbers. From day one, we've been a place where struggling families find support, where children who might otherwise be left behind are given a chance, and where the wider community comes together.

We run free weekend literacy classes for neighbourhood children, provide scholarships for orphans and vulnerable learners, and host community health drives on our campus. Our gates are open — not just to fee-paying families, but to anyone who needs a helping hand.

What drives us

Mission, vision, and the values we live every day

Our faith in Christ calls us to serve — not just our students, but our neighbours.

Mission

To nurture confident, compassionate, and capable learners through Christ-centred education — and to extend that same care to the wider community through outreach, support, and shared resources.

Vision

A school where every child is known and loved, and a community where no one is left behind because of poverty, circumstance, or background.

Core value · Faith in action

We believe faith without works is empty. That's why our daily assemblies, Bible lessons, and pastoral care are matched by tangible service — food drives, tutoring, and opening our facilities to those in need.

Core value · Radical community

We are a family — and families show up for each other. Staff, parents, learners, and neighbours work together, because we know every person's name, story, and potential.

Beyond the classroom

How we help people in our community

Education is our core, but service is our heartbeat. Here are some of the ways we show up for Masaka.

Free weekend literacy

Every Saturday, our teachers and volunteers run free reading and writing classes for children from nearby villages who need extra support.

Scholarships for orphans

Over 40 children who have lost one or both parents attend Elyon Joy on full or partial scholarships, funded by our community of donors.

Adult skills workshops

We open our hall for evening workshops in tailoring, baking, and small-business skills — helping parents and guardians build sustainable livelihoods.

Emergency support fund

A small discretionary fund helps families facing sudden hardship — from medical bills to school fees — so that no child has to drop out because of a crisis.

Teddy and her three children
A family in need

Teddy and her three children need your support

Teddy is a single mother living in Masaka with three young children. After the loss of her husband, she has been struggling to find steady work and has no reliable means to support her family. Her children are bright and eager to learn, but without help, their education — and their future — is at risk.

We are appealing to our community of friends, parents, and well-wishers to help us provide full scholarships for Teddy's three children so they can continue their education at Elyon Joy School.

How you can help Teddy's family

Every contribution — big or small — goes directly toward school fees, uniforms, and learning materials for Teddy's children.

  • Sponsor a child — full or partial annual scholarship
  • Donate supplies — uniforms, books, shoes, and stationery
  • Support Teddy — help her access skills training and small-business start-up
  • Pray with us — for strength, provision, and hope for this family

Skills for life

Tailoring skills taught at Elyon Joy

As part of our community outreach, Elyon Joy School runs tailoring and sewing workshops for parents, guardians, and young adults in our community. These hands-on classes teach practical skills — from taking measurements and cutting fabric to finishing garments — that can be turned into a sustainable income.

Many of the women who join the programme are single mothers like Teddy, who are looking for a way to provide for their families with dignity. The workshop is free to attend, and we provide the sewing machines, materials, and patient instruction.

Your generosity at work

Some of the children receiving free scholarships

Thanks to the kindness of our donors and partners, these children — many of whom are orphans or from vulnerable families — are able to attend Elyon Joy School free of charge. They are thriving in class, making friends, and dreaming big.
